More than one million tons of bagasse are produced each year during sugarcane production in tropical and subtropical regions. The economic value of directly burning or discarding bagasse is very low, so a new method of using bagasse to make wood pellets has been developed and put into use. Bagasse biomass pellets, as a simple and cheap way to obtain energy, can not only bring huge profits to customers, but also create a comfortable living environment for customers.
What Is A Bagasse Pellet Machine?
Bagasse pellet machine is a special equipment for processing bagasse into biomass fuel pellets. It is mainly used to process bagasse, a byproduct of sugar factories, and convert it into environmentally friendly fuel with high calorific value and easy storage and transportation.
Bagasse pellet machine processes wet bagasse with a moisture content of about 48%-50% into pellet fuel with a diameter of 6-12mm through crushing, drying, granulation, cooling, packaging and other processes. Its calorific value can reach 3400-5500 kcal/kg, which can replace traditional energy sources such as coal and diesel, and is widely used in industrial boilers, power plants and home heating.

Comparison between Bagasse and Bagasse Pellets
| Material | Ash Content | Average Density | Moisture Content | Calorific Value |
| Bagasse | 2%—2.31% | 1-1.4 g/cm³ | 8%-13% | 3.88 MJ/kg – 4.22 MJ/kg |
| Bagasse Pellet | 0.49%-1.5% | 1-1.4 g/cm³ | 7.64%-8% | 4.5 MJ/kg – 18 MJ/kg |
Bagasse is usually piled up as waste or to be used to provide energy or fuel for cogeneration plants or industry boilers. Owing to high moisture content, direct burning of loose bagasse in conventional grates is associated with very low thermal efficiency and widespread air pollution. The conversion efficiencies are as low as 40%, with particulate emissions in the flue gases in excess of 3000 mg/Nm³.. In addition, a large percentage of unburnt carbonaceous ash has to be disposed of. Bagasse pellets have low moisture content and a densified form, which overcomes the above-mentioned problems with direct firing of bagasse.

Advantages of Bagasse Pellets
1. Low cost and high return
Bagasse, as agricultural waste, has low raw material cost, small investment in processing equipment, simple operation, and ordinary people can operate it after simple training, with low labor cost. After large-scale production, the return on investment is high, especially in the context of energy shortage, the market demand is stable.
2. Renewable resources
Sugarcane has a short growth cycle (12-18 months) and can be planted in cycles every year to ensure the continuous supply of raw materials, which is more sustainable than fossil fuels.
3. Reduce pollution and waste
The carbon dioxide absorbed by sugarcane during its growth is basically balanced with the amount released by its combustion. It is a carbon-neutral energy source, and no harmful gases such as sulfides and nitrogen oxides are produced during combustion, with significant environmental benefits.
The production of sugarcane bagasse pellets can effectively solve the problem of agricultural waste treatment, avoid environmental pollution caused by open-air burning or landfill, and reduce dependence on forest resources.
4. Wide application
Sugarcane bagasse pellets can replace traditional energy sources such as coal and fuel oil, and are suitable for home heating, living stoves, industrial boilers, biomass power plants and other scenarios, with high combustion efficiency and stable calorific value.
It is widely used in the fields of power generation and heating, especially for factories and communities that require a stable energy supply, while meeting daily needs such as cooking and bathing at home.
5. Easy to store and transport
Through processes such as crushing, drying, granulation, and cooling, sugarcane bagasse is compressed into high-density pellets, which are easy to store and transport, and have strong combustion stability.

How to Make Bagasse Pellets by Bagasse Pellet Machine?
First, the bagasse waste will be dried to a moisture content of 10-12%.
Second, the dried bagasse needs to be crushed into powder with a hammer mill, usually equipped with a millimeter-grade hammer mill screen.
Third, in small-scale pellet production, the bagasse will be conveyed to the bagasse pellet machine. For large-scale production, a ring die pellet machine can be considered. The raw material will be compressed into small pellets between the drum and the die through the die holes.
Fourth, the cutter cuts the exposed pellets into regular lengths. Bagasse pellets can be used as fuel. For household stoves, the pellet diameter should be 6-8 mm. For industrial use, a diameter of 8-18 mm is sufficient.
Fifth, the pellets are cooled and then packaged.

Applications of Bagasse Pellets
Industrial boiler: Produced bagasse pellets can be used as fuel to supply energy for power stations, paper mills, fertilizer factories, etc.
Home warming: The development of wood pellet manufacturing improves the shortage situation of civil heating resources, enabling people to own a cozy warm environment in winter.
Animal feed: With the help of a feed pellet mill, bagasse pellets can be used to feed horses, cattle, dairy, etc.
Animal bedding: Produced bagasse pellets can also be used as animal bedding to provide your pets or poultry with a cozy and clean home.
