With the shortage of traditional energy sources such as coal and natural gas, more and more biomass materials, such as straw, forestry and agricultural waste, urban garbage, etc., are compressed into pellets as a new alternative.
Bamboo is a forest resource. It grows quickly and has strong reproductive capacity, and is widely used in all aspects of our daily life, such as construction, furniture manufacturing, papermaking, textiles, etc. During the production process, a large amount of bamboo residues are produced, which are usually treated as useless waste. However, the composition of bamboo is similar to that of wood, so it is very suitable for pressing into bamboo pellets. How to turn bamboo waste into treasure? Our bamboo pellet machine can help you solve this problem.

Bamboo Pellets
Bamboo pellets are made of bamboo stalks, bamboo leaves and recycling bamboo powders after production of other bamboo products, by crushing the bamboo into powder and pressing together into pellets with 6-12mm length. Bamboo pellets deliver extremely high BTU’s and low ash content, and they are a reliable, cost-effective and environment-friendly source of energy for heating systems.
As clean bio-energy, bamboo pellets have better flow properties. Densification into pellets reduces material wastage and improves ease of transporting and storage. Bamboo Pellet’s Specification is as follows:
- Density: >1.22kg/m3
- Diameter: 6-8mm
- Length: 6-12mm
- Calorie: 4500-4800KCAL/KG (18.8-20MJ/kg)
- Moisture: standard 8.7%, 9.6%max
- Ash Content: standard 0.9%, 1.1%max
Kindly notice that moisture content and pellet size affects the physical and combustion properties of bamboo pellets. The effects of moisture content on bamboo pellet’s physical properties include length, diameter, pellet moisture content, unit density and bulk density. And some researches have proved that when moisture content is about 16% and pellet sizes mixed in the bamboo pellets manufacturing process id the optimum choice. On that condition, all properties of bamboo pellets could meet the requirement of Pellets Fuel Institute Standard Specification for Residential/Commercial Densified, and the gross calorific value of bamboo pellets could also meet the minimum requirement for making commercial pellets of DIN 51731 (>17500J/g), respectively. Bamboo pellets are the proposed new biomass solid fuel and had the potential to be development as commercial pellets.

Bamboo Pellet Making Machine
The bamboo pellet machine is a ring die pellet equipment specially used for bamboo waste pellets. It can make bamboo powder and bamboo chips into pellet products by heating and compressing. It is a biomass fuel pellet machine.
The pellets processed by this bamboo pellet machine are mainly used as biomass fuel, cat litter, organic fertilizer, bamboo board, etc. It is widely used in biomass pellet plants, fuel pellet plants, bamboo product processing plants, cat litter production lines, furniture factories, bamboo farms, fertilizer plants, etc.
Bamboo is abundant in many countries and regions. The bamboo powder and bamboo chips left after bamboo processing and utilization now have a good way to deal with them – processing them into bamboo pellet fuel. Bamboo has a high calorific value, and fuel made from bamboo is very popular and has broad market prospects.
Working principle of bamboo pellet machine
Ring die bamboo pellet machine is mainly composed of overload protection device, external discharging mechanism and booster oil pump lubrication system.
Equipped with variable frequency speed motor, the feeding is uniform.
The raw materials are fed into the bamboo pellet machine through the conveyor, and then fed into the rotating ring die by the feeder. Finally, the crushed materials are pressed into the ring die through two rotating rollers.
The pressure generated compresses the material and squeezes it out through the holes on the ring die, and finally the bamboo biomass is directly discharged.
How to Make Bamboo Pellets?
The bamboo residues transported into bamboo pellet plant will be reduced into proper size, and the processed bamboo dusts will be dried and fed into bamboo pellet mills and be compressed into pellets.
The newly pressed bamboo pellets will be cooled down to become solid and gain strength and at same time will be screened to separate the bamboo pellets and bamboo dust, then packed for storage or transportation.
The whole production process of making bamboo pellets is similar to other biomass pellets production such as sawdust pellets, wood pellets, rice husk pellets and others. The bamboo pellets can be made for small scale household use and large scale commercial use.
Bamboo pellets are small and often look like enlarged capsules. They are shinny with an appearance of a furnished piece of wood. The bamboo biomass pellet production line process usually includes crushing, drying, pelletizing, cooling and bagging, storage.

Raw materials suitable for bamboo pellet machines
As an efficient biomass pellet machine, bamboo pellet machines can process all biomass raw materials. The applicable raw materials are also very wide, such as wood, straw, rice straw, etc.
Wood: wood chips, shavings, sawdust, scraps, building board waste, garden scraps, mountain logs, etc. generated by waste from wood processing plants and furniture factories.
Bamboo: waste generated by processing bamboo handicrafts (such as chopsticks and toothpick factories).
Straw: crop straw, such as corn straw, wheat straw, soybean straw, cotton straw, rice straw, etc.
Grass: alfalfa, hay, royal grass and other grasses can be processed by bamboo pellet machines.
Others: coconut shell, palm oil, rice husk, peanut shell, coconut shell, organic fertilizer, chicken manure, cow dung, etc.
