A reverse roll coater is a key component of wet coating strategies. Unlike other roll coating systems, this machine features two counter‑rotating nips. In a typical configuration, the applicator roll and metering roll rotate in the opposite direction to the substrate. Working Principles of Automatic Reverse Roller Coating Machine
The applicator roll and metering roll rotate opposite to the substrate direction. The applicator roll picks up excess coating before entering the metering nip. The substrate moves around the bottom of a support roll, which scrapes the coating from the applicator roll onto the substrate. Meanwhile, the substrate travels in the opposite direction to a rubber‑covered backup roll. The gap between the metering roll and the applicator roll controls the amount of coating delivered to the substrate. In addition, the rotational speed of the applicator roll directly affects the coating weight – higher speed yields more coating, and vice versa.
