Raw Material for Biomass Pellet Machine

Wood raw materials: including sawdust, shavings, bark, branches, waste furniture scraps, building templates, etc. produced by processing wood such as pine, poplar, and fir. This type of raw material needs to be crushed and screened to ensure that the particle diameter is controlled at about 6 mm and the moisture content is maintained at 10%-15%.

Crop straw: corn straw, wheat straw, straw, rice husk, peanut shell, cotton stalk and other agricultural waste are also common raw materials.

How Does The Biomass Pellet Machine Work?

1.Material pretreatment: the raw materials need to be crushed and the moisture content adjusted (generally controlled between 12% and 18%) to facilitate pressing.

2.Feeding: the material is fed into the pressing cavity by the feeding device and evenly distributed between the ring die and the roller.

3.Compression molding: driven by the main shaft, the roller rotates inside the ring die to force the material into the die hole.The material softens under the action of high pressure and friction heat, is extruded through the die hole, and is formed into strip particles.

4.Cutting and discharging: After the particles are extruded from the die hole, they are immediately cut into the required length by the cutter.
The finished particles are discharged through the discharge port and enter the cooling system or are directly packaged.

Whole Production Line

A complete biomass pellet  production line includes crushing, drying, pelletizing, and packaging units. 

  1. Crushing: Wood blocks, wood chips, or other wood materials are uniformly crushed. This can be done using a wood crusher or shredder to reduce the size of the wood into smaller pieces.
  2. Drying: The crushed wood material is then fed into a drying machine drum through a conveyor belt. The drying process quickly reduces the moisture content of the material to around 12% to 15%. This is important for ensuring the quality of the final wood pellets.
  3. Pelletizing: Once the wood material is dried, it is then fed into a pellet mill. The pellet mill compresses the material under high pressure and heat, forming it into small cylindrical pellets. The pellets are then extruded from the pellet mill.
  4. Packaging: The pellets are discharged from the pellet mill and can be directly connected to a conveyor belt that leads to an automatic packaging machine. The packaging machine packages the pellets into bags

A: Yes. You must crush the material to a uniform size (around 6 mm) and adjust moisture to 12–18%. Too wet, and the pellets won’t hold together; too dry, and the lignin won’t bind properly. Our ZZCHRYSO pellet line can include a hammer mill and dryer before the pelletizer.
