Product Description

Sawdust briquetting machine is a screw extruder designed to produce briquettes from biomass materials as a fuel source. It plays a vital role in the production of biochar briquettes, also known as biomass briquette press or charcoal machine. Tiantai Sawdust Briquette Making Machine makes your manufacturing business more efficient and profitable. Turn sawdust waste into revenue.

Sawdust is a by product of wood processing, obtained by cutting, grinding or sanding wood. It consists of fine particles and small wood chips, which are lightweight and versatile. Sawdust has a variety of applications, from animal bedding to mulch, but one of its most energy-efficient uses is as a fuel source.

Raw Material

Biomass materials suitable for briquette production include sawdust, rice husks, branches, coconut shells, coffee grounds, bagasse, peanut shells, bamboo, etc. These materials have one common feature: they all contain lignin. Lignin plays a vital role in the briquette formation process because it can be reshaped under high pressure and temperature conditions.

Sawdust Size and Moisture Required for Briquette Manufacturing

The size and moisture content of the material are crucial for producing high-quality wood briquettes. The material should be smaller than 5 mm and the moisture content should be less than 12%. To achieve these specifications, it is recommended to use a wood crusher and sawdust dryer to process the raw materials.

Working principle of Sawdust Briquette Machine

The briquetting machine consists of a machine base, a protective cover, a feed port, a pressing wheel, a flat die, and a discharge port. Its working principle is: the material to be pressed should be crushed first, and its length should be 30-60mm, and the moisture content should be within the range of 15%-25%. The material is fed into the feed port of the briquetting machine through the feeding conveyor, and the material is evenly dispersed in the working area between the pressing wheel and the flat die. The main shaft rotates, driving the pressing wheel to rotate, and the material is forced to be squeezed out of the flat die in blocks and falls from the discharge port.

Features

1.Large capacity

The capacity of the general thermal capacity biofuel is 30-50 kg/ m³,and the capacity of this product is 800-1300 kg/m³,about 20 times than the general thermal capacity biofuel.
2.High Heat efficiency
The heat utilization of biomass is only 10%-20%,and the combustion utilization rate can reach more than 40% after curing.
3.Clean and hygienic, non-polluting
Biomass-cured fuels can achieve“zero emission” during combustion.
4.Biomass resource is huge and easy to take

Application of Sawdust Briquette Press Machine

The sawdust briquette press can make the biomass with lower than 30% moisture content into briquettes without any binder. The raw material can also be crop stalk, bagasse, grass, straw, and so on. Under proper pressure, temperature and moisture, the biomass is extruded into briquettes with 8-70mm diameter and 3500-5500kcal/kg.

By the processing of sawdust briquette press machine, the briquettes have high density, high heat value, can be easily and conveniently used, stored or transported. The clean sawdust briquettes can replace fire wood, coal, natural gas, liquefied gas, etc. to be used in stove, boiler, drying stove, and so on for both industrial and home use.

ZZCHRYSO Sawdust Briquette Press Machine – FAQ

A: It compresses sawdust, rice husks, wood chips, bamboo, peanut shells, coffee grounds, bagasse, and other biomass materials into high‑density, high‑calorific fuel briquettes. Our ZZCHRYSO machine turns loose sawdust waste into a clean, solid fuel that can replace firewood, coal, or gas in industrial boilers, home stoves, and power plants.

A: The biomass is first crushed to under 5 mm and dried to less than 12% moisture. It is fed into the press chamber where a rotating main shaft drives press wheels against a flat die. Under high pressure (and friction heat up to 150–200°C), the natural lignin in the wood softens and acts as a binder. The material is forced through die holes, forming dense briquettes that drop out of the discharge port. No chemical binders are needed.

A: For best results, the sawdust should be ground to particles smaller than 5 mm and have a moisture content below 12%. If the material is too wet, a sawdust dryer is recommended. A wood crusher can be used to reduce oversized chips. Our ZZCHRYSO system can include these preprocessing units for a complete line.

A: Four models: CRS‑2600A (75 kW, 1.5–2.5 t/h), CRS‑3500A (110 kW, 2.5–3.5 t/h), CRS‑4500A (132 kW, 3–4.5 t/h), and CRS‑6000A (185 kW, 4–6 t/h). All produce 32×32 mm square briquettes. Hole counts range from 52 to 120. Voltage is 380V/50Hz (customizable).

A: Loose sawdust has a bulk density of only 30–50 kg/m³. After briquetting, the density increases to 800–1300 kg/m³ – about 20 times denser. This drastically reduces storage space and transport costs. A truckload of loose sawdust becomes just 1/20 of its original volume.

A: The briquettes typically have a calorific value of 3500–5500 kcal/kg, depending on the wood type. They burn with very low smoke and ash (almost zero emissions), and the combustion efficiency can exceed 40% – much higher than burning raw biomass (10–20%). They are a clean alternative to coal.

A: High output, low energy consumption, and no binder required. The machine is robust, with heavy‑duty dies and rollers. It turns waste sawdust into a sellable product, creating a new revenue stream. The briquettes are easy to store, transport, and burn consistently. The process is environmentally friendly, reducing landfill waste and carbon emissions.

A: Daily: check wear on dies and rollers, clean the feed inlet, remove any metal debris. Weekly: lubricate bearings and drive chains, inspect belt tension. Monthly: replace worn dies or rollers, calibrate pressure, check electrical connections. The machine is built for easy access to wear parts. We provide a full manual and spare parts support.

A: Yes. The briquettes from our ZZCHRYSO machine can be further processed in a carbonization furnace to produce biochar (also called charcoal briquettes). These have even higher calorific value and can be used for barbecue, industrial activated carbon, or soil amendment. The machine itself can be part of a complete bio‑charcoal production line.

A: Industrial steam boilers, hot water boilers, drying ovens, home heating stoves, power generation plants, and even as feedstock for gasification systems. They can directly replace fossil fuels like coal, natural gas, and LPG in many applications. The clean burn makes them ideal for indoor use as well.
