Rice Straw Pellet Machine for Making Rice Straw Pellets
The rice straw pellet machine is the most important piece of equipment in the whole rice straw pellet processing. Owning more than 10 years of experience, we have designed the rice straw pellet machine especially for converting rice straw and other kinds of straws into fuel pellets, and we guarantee the quality of the rice straw pellet machine and the services we offer to you.
The harvesting of leaves a large quantity of straw. For every 4tonsof rice grain,6 tons of straw are produced. Straw, the primary source of energy, is used in most countries and accounts for 14% of the total energy consumption in the world. After the pellet straw machine, it can be used for cooking, drying agricultural products, and stable bedding for material in industrial processes.
Therefore, the applicationof straw pellet machines for recycling energy from rice straws has gained popularity since the energy crisis and global warming threat.

Why Should Rice Straw Be Made into Fuel Pellets?
1.Reduce Environmental Pollution
- Alternative Incineration: Traditional open-air burning of rice straw releases a significant amount of smoke and harmful gases (such as PM2.5, CO₂, nitrogen oxides, etc.), which are extremely harmful to air quality.
- Cleaner Burning: Rice straw pellets burn more completely, resulting in lower emissions and almost no smoke, making them much more environmentally friendly than direct incineration.
2.Improve Resource Utilization
Rice straw is a renewable resource; however, if it is not utilized, it becomes waste. Converting it into pellet fuel transforms these “wastes” into valuable energy, thereby improving the resource utilization rate of agricultural waste.
3.Replace Traditional Fossil Energy
Rice straw pellets can be used in various applications, including:
- Household heating stoves
- Biomass boilers
- Industrial steam boilers
- Power plants to replace coal
This transition helps reduce dependence on fossil fuels such as coal and natural gas, promoting the shift towards clean energy.
4.Reduce Energy Costs
The calorific value of pellet fuel is approximately 3500-4200 kcal/kg, which is lower than that of coal. However, the unit price of pellets is also lower, making the overall energy cost more advantageous. The cost of rice straw as a raw material is extremely low, and the profit margin for pellet fuel after processing can reach 20%-30%.
5.Mature Technical Feasibility
The fiber structure of rice straw is loose, making it easy to crush and shape into pellets. After combustion, there is less ash and no coking, which is suitable for continuous production. The existing pellet machine equipment is well-developed, covering various specifications and a wide price range, allowing for selection based on specific needs.
6.Easy to Transport and Store After Pelletization
Original rice straw is large and irregular, leading to high transportation costs. In contrast, pellets are small and dense after compression, which facilitates long-distance transportation and centralized utilization. Additionally, pellets are easy to store and are less prone to mold or moisture absorption.

Advantages of rice straw pellets as a renewable energy source
Increased bulk density: The densification process increases the bulk density from about 80-150 kg/m³ to 600-700 kg/m³, which reduces transportation costs and storage volume.
Lower moisture content: The moisture content of the pellets is usually less than 10%, which is beneficial for long-term storage and reduces product losses.
Higher energy efficiency: The pellets have a more uniform composition, resulting in higher energy efficiency and lower emissions when burned, which is more advantageous than raw rice straw.

How to Make Rice Straw Pellets by Rice Straw Pellet Machine?
1. Separating Rice Straw From Foreign Materials
Straw may contain far more foreign materials than sawdust, thus it is important to separate the rice straw from the foreign objects.
2. Grinding of Rice Straw
The size of the rice straw before sending it into the feeder of the rice straw pellet mill should be reduced to a uniform size of less than 5mm by a hammer mill.
3. Drying of Rice Straw
Generally speaking, rice straw is often air-dried, with a moisture content of typically 15%. So the drying of rice straw is unnecessary. However, if the moisture content of your rice straw is higher than 15%, drying with a rotary drum dryer is necessary.
4. Pelleting in Rice Straw Pellet Machine
After grinding and drying, the materials are transported into the rice straw pellet machine by conveyor. Under the pressure between the die and roller, the rice straw pellets are extruded out and cut into the desired length. The common size for rice straw fuel pellets is 6mm and 8mm.
5. Cooling of Rice Straw Pellets
In order to maintain the quality of pellets during storage and handling, the extruded pellets with high temperatures should be air quenched down to room temperature or a little higher by the counter flow pellets cooling machine.
